BNC Newsletter
Vol. 13, No. 3 June/July 2008
SUMMER HEAT
BNC has seven events in June and July to really heat things up in the city. June has two Sunday afternoon bar afternoons at the Jackhammer as well as our regular Cullom House event and Pride Weekend Touché event that will be free for members. July has two Touché events and our regular Cullom House event. Additionally, we have our two annual camping weekends at Camp Buckwood June 6th-8th and August 1st-3rd.
A CHANGE AT TOUCHÉ
Starting with the June 28th party at Touché, the two free drink tickets will be limited to “Well” Liquor and Domestic Beer. “Call” Liquor and Imported Beer will be available for a cash premium.
WE’RE LOOKING FOR A FEW GOOD MEN
BNC is in need of volunteers. You can help by becumming a BNC volunteer! Our event volunteers get free entry to the event they work, and volunteers who volunteer on a regular basis or who help out behind the scenes to do the footwork that makes events happen get a healthy batch of “BearBuck$” that they can redeem to pay annual membership and/or to pay for entry to events. Without volunteers, BNC does not exist, and BNC events don’t happen. What are YOU doing to help BNC give you good times?
If you can help out either occasionally or on a regular basis, please call the BNC HotLine at 312-409-0269 or e-mail bncinfo@bearnaked.org with your name and contact info. YOU MUST BE A PAID BNC MEMBER TO BE A VOLUNTEER.
RSVP’S ARE NO LONGER REQUIRED TO ATTEND ANY BNC EVENT
.
GET YOUR BNC NEWLETTER via EMAIL
If you would prefer to have the newsletter emailed to you as a PDF, we have started a program to provide this service. Email us at bncinfo@bearnaked.org with the email address you want to use and your name. We’ll test it, update the database, and save us all some time and money. The more of our membership that moves to this service, the more often we will have free events! Please mention this to our 'no mail' members, when you see them. Otherwise, they won't find out about it.
Volunteering
Maybe you have an extra 30 minutes before events and want to meet and greet the men coming in for the 60 minutes the door while they sign-in….or perhaps you drive past a convenience store on your way to the Cullom House and can pick up a half-dozen bags of ice. Maybe you love to talk on the telephone and want to help return calls from the HotLine, or have a yen for sitting down at your computer to write something in MS Word or update website info or reply to e-mails. If you have social skills or technical skills, we can find a way to put your small donation of time to use! Our event volunteers get free entry to the event they work, and volunteers who help out behind the scenes to do the footwork that makes events happen for you get a healthy batch of “Bear$Bucks” they can redeem to pay annual membership or to pay for entry donations. Without volunteers, BNC does not exist, and BNC events don’t happen. What are YOU doing to help BNC give you good times?
If you can help out either occasionally or on a regular basis, please e-mail us at bncinfo@bearnaked.org or call the HotLine with your name and contact info. Let us know if you want to be put on the rotation for working the door, or if you want to help out with ice, HotLine, event coordination, newsletter, website, or other tasks. YOU MUST BE A PAID BNC MEMBER IF YOU VOLUNTEER.

Personal Hygiene!
Not everyone gets into raunchy pits, cheesy dicks, nasty bootys, and galloping freckles! Do us all a favor: take a shower, douche that butthole if your ass is going in the slings, and check yourself for crabs before you head out for an event. It's common courtesy to be ready for play-and no one likes to have more than sweat and cum sticking to their fur when they go home for the night. If you can't be sure about your state of cleanliness, PLEASE stay home for the evening!

Getting to the Cullom House
The Cullom House is located at 2561 W. Cullom, at the west end of the dead-end street’s south side. BY CTA: the #78 Montrose bus to Campbell (mid-way between the North Branch of the Chicago River and Western Avenue) (#78 buses last runs go through at 10:15 p.m.), south to Cullom and turn right; the #49 Western bus to Cullom (2 blocks south of Montrose) (#49N Night Owl buses run every 20 minutes), go west on Cullom to the end; Brown Line trains to Western Avenue stop, then walk 4½ blocks south to Cullom, 2½ blocks west to the end (trains run every 20 minutes, with the last leaving Western Avenue for Belmont at 2:07 a.m.). TAXIS: Easy to find on both Western Avenue and Montrose Avenue. DRIVING: Cullom is an EAST-bound one-way approaching Western Avenue. Either 1) turn south on Campbell from Montrose, 2 blocks west of Western, OR 2) turn west on Hutchinson from Western (3 blocks south of Montrose), then turn north on Campbell one block to Cullom. Park on any street, but do NOT park on the alley (it looks like a driveway) next to the house on Cullomyou could be ticketed/towed there.
The Cullom House is a private home, located at 2561 W. Cullom, two blocks south of Montrose and two blocks west of Western Avenue. Before you head over there for an event, you must put your $20 for the event into a SEALED envelope with your name on it, which you can place in the bin at the door. You will be asked to sign a liability release form, and then you can change out of and store your clothes in the dining room. The first floor, which is the designated smoking area, is a social area where sexual play is NOT allowed. The basement play area has a bar area with coolers for you to stow whatever you bring for your BYOB. No smoking is permitted in the basement.
Getting to Touche & Jackhammer
Touche is located at 6412 N. Clark, Jackhammer is at 6406 N. Clark, just a couple doors north of Devon at the Clark/Ashland split. If the parking lot across the street (at the meters!) is full, there’s plenty of parking on the surrounding streets. CTA’s 22 Clark buses stop at the corner, as does the 155 Devon bus connecting to the Red Line Morse station. And 36 Broadway buses and SOME 151 Sheridan buses end at the corner. If you’re cabbing, you will find LOTS of cabs dropping and picking up at Touche and neighboring bars. The back bar, past the restrooms, is our event location—and remember that if you are NOT on the RSVP list, we CANNOT let you in…you can call in to the HotLine to RSVP as late as 5pm the night of the event. There is no RSVP requirement at Jackhammer. In case you have to use the men’s room while you’re at the event, we have bathrobes to provide the required degree of modesty! Check your coat at the bar’s front door, and check your clothes just inside the back bar…helpful hint: SOCKS are great places to store your clothing check ticket, drink tickets, spare bucks for drinks, and your poppers, lube, and rubbers!
Camping and Additional Play Locations
IF you are interested in naked camping, know of other play locations we can use, or have other ideas to keep BNC members entertained and new members coming in to join us, please let us know—contact us via the BNC website, leaving a message on the HotLine, or talking to the volunteers at check-in at any BNC event!
BNC Web Site
If you are on-line, visit our web site at http://www.bearnaked.org. org You can find the schedule, "frequently asked questions", membership and B.I.L. registration forms for download, and a whole lot more-even an e-mail link to get information. Check it out and tell us what you think.
Party Etiquette
BNC strongly encourages attendees to be naked during our events, but that doesn’t exclude wearing your favorite boots, bar vest, or leather jacket. We expect that if you are gonna see all our attendees’ cocks and asses and chests that they get to see yours, too. Bashful Bettys don’t exactly feel like one of the lockerroom boys if they’re covering up the naughty bits. But maybe you have a dildo you like used on your butt. Or have restraints that need to be used. Or have some alligator clips for your nips. Or have other toys that make you hot. By all means, BRING THEM! Have fun! You should bring your own poppers, and sometimes it’s advantageous to bring your own lube and rubbers. Don’t be bashful to use the slings and other equipment at the Cullom House. But please be respectful of other attendees. “NO” means “NO”, and if someone nicely pushes your hand or your mouth away, there are LOTS of other men available. And it isn’t nice to monopolize: let that hot man have the freedom to meat and greet the other men. Help the shy men get comfortable, too, OK?
Membership
As a member of BNC, you get a free (all expenses paid) New Year’s Party, you get the newsletter to keep you updated, and you get special “non-party” events that non-members don’t get, all at substantial savings if you attend more than two events in one year. And you can save yourself the $20 event fees by volunteering at BNC events... call the HotLine AT LEAST one month in advance of an event if you wish to be a BNC volunteer! We’re accepting “trainees” for event check-in, so call the HotLine and volunteer to help out.
Traveling?
We keep a handful of flyers from other gay men’s naturist and play groups across the continent. Paw through them on the check-in table to see if there’s something going on at your destination—and make sure you tell them you’re a member of BearNaked/Chicago!
Indiana Camping Trips
Camp BuckWOOD has scheduled the weekends of June 6-8-and August 1-3 for our “Bears NAKED in the Woods” camping. You can expect good crowds from across the lower Midwest and Kentucky there, enjoying the pool, hot tub, lake, play barns, and woods—NAKED. If camping isn’t your thing, consider their guest house. Make your reservations. http://www.campbuckwood.com .
Camp BUCKWood Details....
Camp BUCKWood is a men’s lodge and campground, with breakfast available, a pool, hot tub, and pond on the property located in the rolling wooded hills of south-central Indiana’s Brown County. The place is peaceful (no loud noise after 10PM, no loud dogs) and relaxing. The small town of Nashville with tourist-oriented shops and restaurants is close by, and the scenery and hiking trails of Brown County State Park is near Nashville. Lots of arts-and-crafts sorts of places go with the scenery, and the cities of Bloomington and Indianapolis aren’t far away. THIS IS NOT STEREOTYPICAL INDIANA CORNFIELDS…some of the most incredible natural areas and geological formations surround the area.
IF YOU CAMP, come prepared with your tent/camper, food, ice, drink, and gear to cook with—you CAN buy breakfasts when you check in for your stay, but the campground is not near an interstate highway, so off-site dining is more difficult to get to. If interest is there, BNC may check into doing a dinner or potluck on Saturday evening.
Nudity is only permitted in the immediate vicinity of the pool, the tent sites (Meadow area) adjacent to the pool, RV sites adjacent to the pool, the hot tub, and the shower house. Nudity is NOT permitted on the trails, in the WOODED tent area, or past the hot tub area. Sex is NOT permitted in the open. We ask that you respect the proprietors’ rules and not offend the neighbors! But if your tent is not available, the small pool-side Red Barn (which has a sling!) and an enclosed rain shelter provided by BNC WILL be available for play! You can swim in the pool or in the lake, but no lifeguards are on duty; RESPONSIBLE imbibing of alcohol is permitted; and the LODGE is SMOKE-FREE.
You must purchase a $10 annual membership from Camp BUCKWood. Tent rates are $20 per night, with $10 per night for each extra man. RV sites are $35 per night, with $10 per night for each extra man. Lodge rooms (including the bunkroom) vary, but include breakfast. Visit http://www.campbuckwood.com for more information, latest rates, and for directions—you can get door-to-door directions from your home via the website! (If you’re not on-line, please ask the campground for directions when you reserve.) And make sure you tell them you’re from BearNaked/Chicago!
We’re looking forward to our weekends with the men at Camp BUCKWood—let your buddies know, too, and we will do all we can to get our friends from Indianapolis, Cincinnati, Louisville, and the Ohio Valley to join us there!
